About Noam

Recognized for his strong sense of melody, incessant groove and inventiveness as an improviser, Noam Guerrier-Freud has established himself as one of the most sought after drummers in his native Montreal, Canada. Behind his vibrant and authentic sound, you'll hear traces of early influences: Township Jive, Japanese Taiko, Creole Zydeco and New Orleans second line.

National and international appearances

Noam appears frequently as a sideman with many of the city’s best jazz musicians and has performed with local giants Jean-Pierre Zanella and Simon Pagé, as well as the world renowned bassist Dave Holland. Noam also appears often as a session musician on many jazz, funk, pop and folk records produced in Montreal and Toronto. He can be found at the centre of the jazz funk group Razalaz, performing both nationally throughout Canada and internationally at the Festival de Jazz en la Frontera in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico as well as Jazz à Vienne in France. In 2022, Noam joined Le Winston Band, a Montreal based ensemble mixing traditional French Canadian and Creole Zydeco music. He continues to tour North America and Europe with this vibrant group.

In the near future

With performance degrees from Cégep de Saint-Laurent and McGill University, Noam has studied under the tutelage of internationally acclaimed African drummer Mohammed Coulibaly, Canadian drum legend Chris McCann as well as New Orleans master drummer Herlin Riley. In the near future, Noam will be releasing an EP of his original compositions that are destined to get you off your seats and dance. The EP will feature his talents on both drums and vocals.
